City of Rome

Today we'll visit a city that integrates its past into the present better than any other. First, we’ll explore the world’s most famous arena, the Colosseum, where you can almost hear the stamping feet of the crowds gathered for gladiatorial combat. Nearby, the Roman Forum marks the former heart of the Roman Empire. Later, we’ll visit the Vatican, and marvel at Michelangelo’s breathtaking ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. Before you say “arrivederci,” make sure to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain thus ensuring a return trip to the Eternal City.

• Morning: We’ll depart from our hotel and pick up our expert local guide for a two-hour sightseeing tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Our Tour director will then lead us on a 90-minute walking tour of the Trevi Fountain to the Piazza Navona via the Pantheon.

• Afternoon:

We’ll enjoy free time for lunch followed by a guided sightseeing tour of the Vatican. Our three-hour tour of the Vatican will include the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and Saint Peter’s Basilica.

• Evening: We’ll eat dinner at a local restaurant prior to taking the bus back to our hotel.
