General Travel Team Information:

Our Travel Team includes our Tour Directors, each of which is a full-time, contracted, thoroughly-vetted employee of EF Tours, our Group Leader David J. Volkmar, a Liberty High School faculty member and experienced world traveler, and our Chaperones, drawn from select Frisco ISD faculty, parents of student travelers, and former student travelers. All Travel Team Members undergo a selection process as well as background checks administered by an outside vendor.

Tour Directors

Aside from handling the daily logistical details throughout our itinerary, our Tour Directors are full of cultural and historical knowledge only a local would have and are comfortable communicating in the foreign languages we'll encounter during our tour. Additionally, all Tour Directors are skilled at handling student groups, and stay with groups day and night, ensuring the safety of each traveler – from the moment we clear customs upon arrival to the moment we return to the airport and prepare to fly home. Tour Directors also work to make tours educational, from delivering illuminating commentary to enabling hands-on learning.

Group Leader

Our Group Leader, David J. Volkmar, began his teaching career in Dallas ISD prior to transferring to Liberty High School in 2019. Having traveling to 31 countries on five continents, David has taken hundreds of student travelers overseas since beginning an international travel program 10 years ago. Skilled at handling the logistical difficulties inherent to large groups of travelers, David purposefully works to leverage past student traveler feedback while planning future itineraries.

Chaperones

Chaperones are typically recruited from interested Liberty High School faculty, parents of student travelers, and former student travelers who have reached the minimum age requirement. Chaperone allocations are dependent upon the number of student travelers enrolled, which often fluctuates between enrollment and departure.

In addition to its core Travel Team, Redhawk Texpeditions endeavors to take past student travelers as well as the parents of student travelers as chaperones when given the enrollment size to do so. Those interested in chaperoning are contacted when and if allocations become available. Bear in mind, however, that additional chaperone assignments are not made until several months prior to departure, generally in the late winter or early spring.
